Frank,

I'll be away in class around the time of the next meeting. I'll need to place the map on the back burner for the next couple of weeks to get some things done here at the house. On the positive side since I now have a laptop I can work on the map during my down time while at school. Before I leave I hope to have the aerial photo overlay of Dutch Corner plots I have already assembled completed. A few of the plots need redrawn since I can now see where the mistakes are when overlaid on the photo.

Wonderful! Just keep up the good work.

Eventually I would like to learn how to do what you have done, but at the level of deeds.

Hey Bill, two quick things.....whenever you can, can you email me the picture that you have of the topographic map with the warrant overlay on it so that I can put it on the site, and the other thing is the last map that I have, you have C-47-127 for Michael Diver(aka Dibert) then John Dibert....it should be C-44-127, I believe (C-47-127 is for a warrant in Luzerne County).

Thanks SO much for all of you work on this! You have NO idea how much your hard work is appreciated!

Lora,

Let me know if the version I sent you directly is the one you are speaking about.

I'll replace the one without the photo with the Dibert land survey reference corrected. later this evening if I get a chance. The different spellings of the names I did the way they were on the surveys.

I am thinking of using a black and white aerial photos from 1939 to overlay the final map on. More of the old fence lines are apparent since the photos are 70 years old. I haven't decided which I am doing yet. My garden is currently running over me.

Good plan.

It won't be as pretty as Google Earth but I know what you mean about the historical evidence.

Eventually (especially when I can get my neighbor Andy helping out) it will be of interest to overlay your map on a geodetic survey map to see how our ancestors related to the contour of the land.

Frank, Yea the old B and W's won't be as pretty. I will need to put several of them together, but I think it will be worth it if gives a few more clues.

Lora, I just realized the jpeg I send a while ago with all of the notes on it was not the one I just fixed. I'll try again and hope to get the right one this time.

I just took a look at the index of the land warrant map that Lora has put together. Wow that really will help people who are researching. Do you all define Dutch Corner as the area between Dunnings Creek and Dunnings Mountain with the Narrows just below Chalybeate as the souther end and US 220 as the north west boundry or do you consider the area betwwen Dunnungs Creek and US 220/US 30 as the south west boundry? I would imagine Dunnungs Creek is logical since it would have been a physical boundry. Let me know so I will know when I have the Dutch Corner portion complete. I don't have anything between the creek and US 220 right now.

It has never been "officially" established where Dutch Corner is. I think of it as a state -- a state of mind. If you think you are in Dutch Corner, then you are.

Probably Dunnings Creek is the best boundary, but in the area between the turnpike exchange and Chalybeate the ridge works well too. "Skin ridge" it used to be called. In the case of the map, I guess for simplicity, I would use Dunnings Creek upstream to Cessna and then Old 220 up to St. Clairsville (or Kaufman Hollow).
