The Old Bedford Village contains the "Biddle" Cabin. Originally it was built by John Croyle. Information about the cabin states that it was relocated from Dutch Corners. Does anyone know exactly where this building was located? I am also looking for photos of it or any other Croyle house in the Dutch Corners area. I know of one on the Dibert property but couldn't find it on a trip recently.

The best advice that I can give you is to telephone Allen Semanek. If anyone knows, he will know.

Debbie - that's a very good question. It was located on Dibert road. If you go out Imlertown Road and turn right onto Rabbit lane, go to the intersection with Dibert road and turn left onto Dibert road, it would be about a quarter of a mile out that road (you can also just get onto Dibert Road off of Imlertown Road, just past the one lane bridge past the New Jail, and go about one to two miles and you'll pass the intersection with Rabbit Lane, but instead of turning you'll just stay straight). It sat on what is known as the Old Harry Biddle Farm (now the Butch Mortimore farm). It sat near where the new house and where the barn sits.

I don't know off hand of anyone who would have a picture of it before it was relocated, but if I hear anything I'll let you know! If you do find a picture, if you would share it with us, it would be awesome!

I met with a member of the Biddle family who lived in the old cabin. He told me of someone who might have photos of it but I was unsuccessful in getting one. He did explain that the cabin at one time had and upper and lower porch on the front. And the staircase in the original cabin (from the first to second floor) was only about 18" wide and circular. When the cabin was removed to Bedford Village and reconstructed they changed and rebuilt the staircase due to safety reasons.

Wonder website! I am totally impressed.

Can you share who it was that was supposed to have pictures of it? Maybe some of their extended family has pictures instead that we can help to find. Feel free to send me a private message instead, if you'd rather not post the name here!
