Still timed out. Got more of it, but the lower half is missing when I view the post. Maybe it is just me and my slow connection?

Maybe you all can see the entire map (the land warrant at the bottom should be C-62-239). I can only see down to A-48-42. Like I said, it could just be me and my slow connection. None of the photos on this site ever fully show on my computer. Dial-up has that problem a lot. Maybe later this month when the phone company gets around to it I can abandon my dial-up.

Wow! Lots more to play with.

For my part, I am writing down the names, acreages, and dates of the original warrant.

Maybe you are already doing this.

I have printed out a paper copy of each land warrant and also saved them to my computer. Not only can we gather information of the warrant itself, sometimes we can gather the names of different settlers and owners of the plot from other adjancent plots. Some of the plots have quite a history since adjacent plot surveys cover a period of 10, 20, or more years by looking at the adjoining warants showing several change of owners. I take it you guys can see the whole map. I still can only see half of it on the site even though I am the one who uploaded it.

I think I am seeing it all. C-62-239 is the bottom-most.

Making the shift from warrants to patents to deeds will be a challenge. As I have told you before, however, I have drawn out many deeds that I think relate to the Bowser homestead.

Maybe tomorrow I will get that papers out and see if I can connect any to your map.

Here is an update of the DC Map. I have all of the warants I have found now on the map. The grayed out plot at the bottom is actually just across the mountain in Providence Township. I had it in my hands so I added it. I grayed it since it is not in Bedford Township. Henry Beckley's plot is drawn as the survey list the distances and headings. I think the northwest line is most likely in-line with the northwest line of A-34-139. I am leaving it this way until I can find the adjoining land to confirm. I am thinking of adding the streams that are shown on the surveys. I also discovered the largest file that can be attached in this forum is 256k. This map is athe highest resolution I could make it and be below the 256k. .

At some point I would like to put something in the Gazette about your work. Would that be okay with you?

I just corrected two of the land warrant survey numbers I had wrong. C-211-113 is C-221-112/113 and C-56-203 is C-156-203. I wouldn’t be surprised if I have more of the numbers wrong. For now I decided I am not putting the streams on the map. I made a couple of attempts, but I am having difficulty since they don’t want to go where I want them. Finishing the map is moved back to priority one and enhancements moved to priority two. The big question mark was replaced by the name John Sells. I haven’t looked up the survey number yet, but I found the name on an adjacent plot. I did find three more warrants that fit the map. I haven’t drawn them yet, but the names are in the approximate area of the plot.
I have no problem with any of this going to the Gazette. Maybe that one person that has some information we need will come to the site because of it. Maybe someone else is doing similar work or has done research in the past and could help us out.

I managed to dig up about 130 more land warrants. At least half of them should be useful in in constructing the map of the Dutch Corner and St Clairsville area. I know some of them are too far west. St Clair township at one time extended to the mountain west of New Paris. I do know for sure some of them are in the hole left in Dutch Corner map so far. I have found a few that listed the Raystown branch as Frankstown, but all of the surrounding warrants list it as Raystown. The land warrant index list plots as on the waters of Dunnings Creek or in St Clair township, but only to find out from examining the warrant that I was too far up the creek when it would mention Napier Township or show Allegheny Mountain to the west. It will take me a while to digest these new warrants and piece the puzzle together.

Well, keep up the good work. You are doing a VERY useful thing.
