Nice going Bill.

The meetings going on right now and we're in the bedroom, looking at the computer.

I submitted an updated map of the land warrants in the Dutch Corner area. It should soon be available for all to see.

I am pretty confident that I have the surveys correctly positioned on the aerial photo. I was able to use some present day fence lines to position many of the plots. The plots do not quite mesh together. This is due to either errors in the warrant surveys or the limitations of the software I am using. Some are probably a combination of both. I have noticed in a few of the surveys that it was noted a 2 degree variance was allowed so this could also answer some of the problems. I also wonder how much variance the large iron ore deposits at or near the surface could interfere with a compass back when the surveys were done.

Sometime around Christmas or New Years I hope to have available another update to the map. I have some plots to line the west bank of Dunnings Creek, but have not had time to draw them on the map. I hope to locate some more plots to fill in the two large holes east of Dunnings Creek. I sketched in John Miller's plot (C-212-25) on the map with the names, but it is not yet on the aerial overlay.

If anyone would like the JPEGs of the Dutch Corner Land Warrant Maps then PM me here on the DC site with your email address (use the PM and not the forum unless you wish everyone that visits the DC site to see you personal email address). I can't send the JPEGs through the Dutch Corner PA email due to the size of the files (the one overlaid on the aerial photo is almost 5 meg). Eventually if the phone company ever gets the DSL they installed figured out and working I will have the ability to put the maps on my own web site and keep them updated as I add to them. In the meantime if you request a JPEG please be patient since I am still on dial-up and it sometimes takes several tries until I can get the email sent out without having a disconnect or time-out in the middle of sending. If you would like updated maps sent as I make additions to them then let me know in your request. Thanks, Bill Bowser

Thanks to GSmith it appears all but two small holes are filled in for the Dutch corner connected warrant map. I probably will not get it transfered from the papper sketch to drawn on the computer until about Christmas, but I will try to scan it and post it in the next few days. I am sure I can plug the last two holes by researching at the court house.

Just to let you guys know I am still working on the map. I did overlay the Dutch Corner area over the aerial phot and aligned the added plots. I haven't started the detailed index yet. There are changes to be made to the plots just to the west of Dunnings Creek. Some of the plots I have along the west side of the creek are not the ones that were patened. I am combing through the surveys and have found some that were not in the land warrant index on the PHMC site. They may have been there, but the "place recorded" was either blank or in error (or unreadable) and I couldn't find them. It may take me several months to finish sifting through the surveys, but the map will be more accurate.
