DUTCH CORNER HISTORY GROUP

Hello!

 We are the Dutch Corner History Group - and you probably have never heard of us.  We started this group to collect and preserve the history of the people in the Dutch Corner Area of Bedford County.   Most of us have families who’ve lived in The Corner, and we didn’t want to let our family histories be forgotten.  We’ve been asking people to help us by sharing their knowledge of their family’s history with us.  Now, we’re asking you to help us, too.

If you have any of the below that you would like to share with us, please email us your information, or feel free to ask any questions!

Listed below are ways we’ve thought of for you to add your experiences and family history to ours:

1.   Any stories of Dutch Corner life, including stories passed down from previous generations;

2.   Any family history;

3.   A history of Dutch Corner farms and other properties, including information on the first owners whether or not they were from your family;

4.   Copies of military or pension records of ancestors serving in the military (applications for these are available at the Pioneer Historical Society in Bedford);

5.   Copies of photos or list of entries in old Family Bibles;

6.   Copies of photos of earliest ancestors on Dutch Corner land, with identification;

7.   Copies of photos of antiques, old guns, etc.

Anything else you can think of and would like to contribute to our cause would be greatly appreciated.

We want to collect this information to put on the internet to share with everyone, along with keeping the paper documents and pictures or copies of pictures that we receive.  We plan to display these documents and pictures if we can find a place to display them.
